About Us

In August 2007, two friends at the University of the Gambia recognized the need for sickle cell awareness within The Gambian community. Thus, they joined forces to create the Sickle Cell Association Banjul Chapter (The Gambia). Its aim is to build awareness within our community and to impact positively on the lives of individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

The organization was chartered on October 13th, 2007. In January, 2008, the Articles of corporation and by-laws were amended to meet the requirements for a Sickle Cell Association Banjul Chapter (The Gambia).
